Core Modules Overview
Epicor ERP Core Modules
According to Wikipedia, ERP software is, “Enterprise resource planning is the integrated management of core business processes, often in real-time and mediated by software and technology. ERP is usually referred to as a category of business-management software — typically a suite of integrated applications—that an organization can use to collect, store, manage, and interpret data from these many business activities.”
Epicor ERP software with its core modules, Operations and Financials, is end-to-end software for running your entire manufacturing operation. Depending on the size of your business, industry requirements, customer requirements, etc, you may require one or more non-core basic modules, Epicor advanced modules, or even Epicor’s 3rd-party.
For example, if you operate an aerospace parts machine shop, you will need to provide traceability for everything you manufacture according to AS-9100 requirements. An aspect of traceability requirements is the delivery of a copy of all certificates for all purchased materials and subcontracted services in the process of making your delivered parts. Depending on your volume, you may need to add to your Epicor ERP software the Epicor DocStar module, also known as Epicor Content Management, an advanced module which manages document receipt, decentralized capture (OCR scanning and storing), intelligent data extraction, and document retrieval.

The Sales Management module covers all aspects of your business’s sales operation, from the quote process to customer returns. Taken as a whole, this module will help you streamline your sale operation, maximize efficiency, and drive more sales overall.
The Customer Relationship Management feature helps you target potential consumers and manage a complex marketing campaign while also helping with your workflow and sales forecasting. Use Maintenance Management module to enter maintenance requests, track maintenance jobs, and plan preventative maintenance tasks performed on equipment in a manufacturing or distribution facility. This includes internal capital equipment, tools, gauges, and fixtures such as air conditioning units, forklifts, and shop floor tools. You perform preventative maintenance according to predefined schedules, based on elapsed use time or on equipment meter readings. You can also use functions within the module to manage manual requests for maintenance on specific pieces of capital equipment.
Several methods are available for entering maintenance jobs. A tradesman or manager can directly enter them, jobs can be planned in advance and scheduled based on calendar schedules or meter reading intervals, or they can be generated from maintenance requests you enter for specific tools or pieces of equipment. The Maintenance Management module is not intended, however, for managing maintenance services performed on equipment sold to customers. You must use the Field Service module to manage services performed on customer-owned items. For more details, review the Field Service chapter.
Your business’s production process is also likely ripe for cost and time savings. With the Production Management module, you can control the major application functions for the entire manufacturing process.
